To all of our Groove families:
We've been closely following the news regarding COVID-19 and wanted to update you on our Health and Wellness policies at Groove. News around this virus can cause anxiety, particularly for families with young children. We want all of our cherished families to feel comfortable at Groove.
We must all exercise good judgement... with clean hands and open hearts! This is a community-wide effort so please share this information with all caregivers/family members who may come to Groove. Your continued cooperation is greatly appreciated.
1. Please use an overabundance of caution when deciding whether or not your child should attend class. If anyone in your family is exhibiting cold or flu-like symptoms, keep your child home. It breaks our hearts to ask a coughing/sneezing child or grown-up to exit class. But, in the best interest of our entire community, we will do so discreetly if necessary.
2. Don't worry about missing classes! We are suspending our "2 make-ups per session" policy for Music for Aardvarks. You may make up as many missed classes as you miss even if they roll over into our Spring session. You can easily schedule MAKE-UPS on our website. Rhodes Piano families should contact Zev Haber about scheduling make-ups. MiniKeys families will be hearing more from me.
3. When you come to Groove, use hand sanitizer and/or wash hands with soap when you arrive, when you leave and at anytime you feel necessary during class. If you use a tissue during class, please dispose of it immediately. As always, we have plenty of hand sanitizer, soap, tissues and wipes on hand. We have stepped up our efforts to disinfect handles and other shared surfaces several times per day.
4. In all Aardvarks classes, eggs shakers and other instruments will be handed directly to you for use. Grown-ups are responsible for cleaning all of their own instruments and class props. Sanitizing wipes will be distributed rather than placing items in our Yuck Bucket. This helps to minimize germ exchanges between staff and families.
5. All instruments will be wiped down/cleaned in between classes. If you feel a slight film or dampness on the instruments, please know that it is an organic cleaning solution. You are welcome to bring/send your own child-safe wipes to keep your child's hands and instruments clean. For the time being, our musicians will not be sharing their personal instruments with the kids at the end of class.
6. No food, drink or toys from home will be allowed in our music space. If you or your child need a drink or snack, please consume it in the cubby area and dispose of it appropriately. Hand sanitizer should be used again before you re-enter the music space. Toys should be left home or outside in your stroller. Again, this helps to minimize germ exchange.
Like you, we are watching events as they unfold, and following realistic, safe advice from medical professionals. If we feel any further change in policy is appropriate, you will be the first to know!
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. You can call/text 914-834-3383 or send an email to [email protected]
With love and gratitude,
