Kids are fascinated by guitars! But guitars, while popular, are sophisticated instruments that take both time and physical strength to master. It's 3 strings are the exact same as the top 3 strings on a six-string guitar. Everything learned on a Loog can be applied to a regular sized guitar later on.
Chords, in their basic form are comprised of 3 notes, so 3 strings is plenty to play songs! By reducing chords to the basic triad (3 note chord), it’s easier and faster for kids to learn to play songs. Loogs may be small, fun and cute, but they are not toys. They are real instruments, made out of real wood. And they sound great.
LOOG VS. UKULELE
Ukuleles are great! Many parents buy ukes because they want a small, easy-to-play guitar. But, unlike ukuleles, Loogs use regular guitar strings and standard guitar tuning, so they play and sound just like a guitar. And skills learned on the Loog can be transferred seamlessly to a 6- string guitar.
LOOG LESSONS @ GROOVE
All Loog lessons are taught by Groove owner, Lesley Barovick who is a Loog Certified Instructor.
In person private and semi-private lessons at Groove begin Spring 2021 for Loog beginners aged 5 years +.
Loog Mini Guitars are available for purchase at Groove and it is highly recommended (but not required) that your child have their own instrument for lessons.
LOOG + MINIKEYS
Loog Mini Guitars are now an integral part of Groove's MiniKeys curriculum for kids ages 4 years and up. In addition to drums, keyboard and vocals, MiniKeys now have another instrument on which to play rhythm, melody and harmony. And of course, write original songs!
