ART Wide Open

GROOVE AFTER-SCHOOL! Open your eyes, your mind and your imagination to the art all around you! Young artists will learn about the life and work of an artist (Pollack, Giacometti, Calder, etc.) and create their own masterpieces with recyclables, found objects and natural materials. Art Wide Open is led by Lisa Laubhan, a jewelry designer, mixed media artist and mom who sees art everywhere!  For ages 7-10.

YOGA TALES

GROOVE AFTER-SCHOOL! An exhilarating adventure in Yoga set to stories and songs. Kids will explore many new ways to stretch their minds, their bodies and their imagination!    Class leader Janet Casson learned how to turn herself into a pretzel at Karma Kids Yoga.  Register at playmeatale.com

 

Jingle JAM

It is Winter Break...are you lookin' round for something to do? Something fun for your family, too? Join us for a festive JAM in celebration of the coming of winter, the first snow fall and everyone's favorite holidays! Pre-registration is required for these special events which are held at Groove in Larchmont and The Scholastic Store in Scarsdale.

SPECIAL EVENT: Halloween JAM (PM)

Treats & Treats! Join us for our third annual festive, colorful, musical halloween celebration. Dance the Monster Mash with your favorite Purple People Eater while the Werewolves of London howl! Get some use out of those new halloween costumes! We have non-candy treats for all of the kids and a fun night out for the whole family.

Aardvarks-MIXED AGES

The original rockin' good time for kids aged 6 months through 3 years and their actively participating grown-up. This spirited class merges original songs and chants with free-form dance time and instruments jams.  LET'S ROCK!

 

Aardvarks - GROOVERS

By popular demand! A new Aardvarks class designed to keep tempo with 2 & 3 year olds and the grown-ups who chase them! Expect more moving and grooving than ever.  Children in this age group are also more than welcome to join a Mixed Age class!  

 

 

Aardvarks-BABY ROCK

You're never too young to rock!  A hip introduction to music, instruments and Aardvarks for 4-12 month olds.  Class size is limited to 10 babies and the grown-ups who love them.  Proud grandparents are always welcome guests!

 

 

Aardvarks-BIG KID

A 60-minute class for kids aged 3 and 4 who are ready for big music, big drums and big fun! Designed for the imaginative minds and active bodies of older pre-schoolers. Introduces basic music concepts through interactive play. Class size is limited to 8 big kids.  This is a drop-off class. 

Family JAM

A rocking good time for kids aged 6 months through 6 years and their grown-ups.  Designed for busy families who want to check out our vibe!  No reservations or registration.  $25 first child, $5 siblings.  Select Saturdays at 11AM

 

 

 

Pajama JAM

Sing, dance and JAM in your PJs!  This drop-in evening class is for kids ages 6 months to 6 years old and their grown-ups.  Come celebrate shorter work days and the later sunsets.  Bedtime story and lullaby included.  No reservations or registration. $25 first child, $5 for siblings.  Select Wednesdays at 6PM 

 

SALSA BABIES

Dance back into shape with the best little partner of all…your baby!  Salsa Babies offers a great workout and a chance to meet other new parents. With their babies in tow, moms and dads learn basic steps to Latin dances. Suitable for all levels of fitness.  Babies must be at least 6 weeks old and worn in carrier or wrap for the duration of the class.  Older babies (pre-walkers) are also welcome to dance and play.  Named  "BEST KIDS CLASS 2008" by Westchester Magazine! 

PLAY ME A TALE

GROOVE AFTER-SCHOOL!  Through storytelling and creative drama, young people take favorite tales off the page and bring them to life on the stage.  Play-in-a-Day and Play-in-a-Week are also offered during school vacations. SING OUT!

GROOVE AFTER-SCHOOL! Kids ages 7 to 9 yrs finally get their turn to sing out! Just the songs they love, just for the joy of it. Led by music theater coach Lisa Ammon and pianist Jessica Stewart.  Members of Groove's house band (guitar, bass, drums) will drop-in from time to time to accompany and applaud the singers. Song requests are encouraged and microphones are provided!

 

KIDS for DRUMS

GROOVE AFTER-SCHOOL! For boys and girls ages 7-10 years old. Popular percussionist and local drum teacher Brian Carter brings his after-school drumming club to Groove! Your child will channel his/her inner Ringo Starr while building self-esteem, learning teamwork & improving social skills. All levels of experience welcome. Families are invited to a Jam Session on the last day of class.

 

Grown-up Guitar- LEVEL 1

A group guitar class for grown-ups!!! It is never too late to live out your rock star dreams!  LEVEL I beginning students learn the chords they need to play basic songs during the first 2 lessons. Plus chord changes & strumming technique. Song requests are encouraged and students work at their own pace.  Your kids will thank you!

Grown-up Guitar - LEVEL 2

A group guitar class for grown-ups!!  Got that I- IV-V-I chord progression down?  Now it is time for the interesting stuff!  LEVEL 2 intermediates learn beginning theory, finger picking, moving bass, bar chords & 7th chords. Song requests are encouraged and students work at their own pace.  It's your turn to jam!
